John Pedersen :: Testimonials from Clients
Client Focused
As a photographer for most of my life, my desire has always been to convey my love of nature and the visual arts through photography. I continually strive to improve my photographic knowledge and skills and then convey my passion for this amazing discipline to all of my clients. I believe in putting the client first in all that I do in the field as well as in pre and post workshop support.
Workshops
Although the week of the Olympic National Park workshop in 2019 had unseasonal warm, sunny, weather, atypical and record setting for the Olympic Peninsula, the instructors made adjustments in the shooting plan and found ways for us to acquire successful images. The daily critique sessions are a strong feature of the workshop. Photographing in the Hoh rain forest in the morning, having the review and critique that afternoon, and being able to return to the area the next morning was key in the marked improvement in the quality of the images the participants acquired. Rain Forest photography is challenging. The seashore locations provided a variety of image possibilities with sea stacks, fog, and sunsets. On location, rather than being lined up and told what to shoot, one is able to work on their own, with John or Jack circulating in the vicinity for advice or help if necessary.

“His photographic technical knowledge and artistic interpretation of nature blend wonderfully to showcase his talent for teaching others on both aspects of our craft. He has a great mind for when and where to shoot, helping me grab some epic shots of wildlife and scenic alike.”

Creative Education
I asked John for some help getting my concepts for a photo through to a finished image that reflected that concept, emphasized the supporting elements yet did not have an over-processed look. I worked with John on image review, selection and processing. It has been one of the best decisions I have made in my photography. Evaluating an image regarding how it exhibited my feeling or vision of the scene was a first step. Learning the Photoshop skills to emphasize the features that supported my concept while eliminating or minimizing the distractions was the next step. The result is images with more impact, depth, and visual interest… that don’t have a “processed” look. John has the artistic and technical skills to help one take their photography to the next level.
