Maven Magnetic Photographic Filters
I am proud to be using and supporting the Maven Magnetic Filter system on my Fujifilm cameras. I’ve used most of the major filter systems out there over the years and found some good ones and some not so good ones. When I started using Maven products, I knew I had found some of the good ones.
I had purchased a set of Maven filters with my own money, not a sponsored deal, and after extensive use against the filters I already had in my bag, I reached out to the company to congratulate them and strike up a relationship with them so I could offer my opinions to their R&D efforts for future releases. We’ve struck a chord together and our goals and desires are aligned to create the most color neutral and easy to use filter system on the market.
Here are some of the highlights of Maven filters
- AGC Japanese Optical Glass; thin, light and optically pure
- 16 layer multi-coating to reduce reflections and optical artifacts common in some filters
- hydrophobic surface coating to repel water and dirt
- Strong magnetic connection between filter and ring means the filter will not fall off in use or in your camera bag
- Color coded aluminum rings to quickly identify the filters (unlike black filters with small writing that make it difficult to discern)
- Knurled edges for sure grip, and intelligent decoding of which filter is which based on the number of notches

I recently received a set of new filters that provide more nuance and speciality to my existing quiver of filters. Maven is creating some amazing new products to fit every desire of photographers, all at the highest quality. For those who shoot water and foliage, like in the PNW, the combination Neutral Density + Polarizer will allow you to slow the shutter speed AND cut the glare on water or foliage. The 15 and 18 stop ND filters will cut a huge amount of light allowing for super long exposures even during the middle of the day!
